Junior Crate chair

Gerrit Rietveld   |  1934

The Junior Crate Chair is a children’s version of the original crate chair, designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1934. The chair is part of a series of crate furniture that Rietveld designed in the 1930s crisis, a time when there was a strong need for affordable and comfortable furniture. Rietveld made the chair as a do-it-yourself package of the pine crates that served as transport packaging for his furniture. A way of reusing that was far ahead of its time. The chair has therefore become a real design classic.

The Junior Crate Chair is made of solid beech and is available in untreated or varnished beech, and in red or black. A matching cushion is available, in solid ecru or with an image of Miffy. The high chair is packed in a beautiful gift box and is easy to assemble. A beautiful gift for the aspiring design lover.

The Junior Crate Chair is part of the Rietveld Originals collection, which is exclusively and globally managed by Spectrum.
