A design classic brought back to life
This is the SZ 14 armchair, a stylish lounge chair designed by Walter Antonis in 1971. Antonis still calls the armchair one of his most successful designs and recognises his favourite functional premise in it. For this comfortable armchair, only the strictly necessary material is used: a high-gloss chrome frame containing a cover of tough, sturdy black saddle leather. This gives the chair a modern, sleek yet airy look, making it an asset for any kind of room.
The frame and the saddle leather armchair cover have been integrated in a special manner. The armrests, together with the cover of the seat and back, form a whole and create a sense of security in this otherwise very transparent model. Surely an asset for lovers with an eye for detail and design.
It requires craftsmanship to process the strong saddle leather, which has the natural ability to stretch through use. As a result, shape and comfort become slightly looser over time. This increasingly converts this model into your own personal armchair.
For the reintroduction of this model in 2023, the same dimensions, construction and materials were used as for the original 1971 model. Over 50 years on, we did deem it necessary to increase the seat height by 3 centimetres.
